About the Role
Position Summary: The Assistant Childcare Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a warm, engaging, and safe classroom environment for young children. This role involves hands-on care, classroom supervision, activity support, and maintaining a positive, responsive atmosphere for every child. Ideal candidates are nurturing, team-oriented, and passionate about early childhood care and education.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and structured activities
Supervise children during playtime, meals, naps, and group sessions
Support classroom routines including clean-up, transitions, and daily organization
Build meaningful, respectful relationships with children and their families
Help children with emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and social skills
Communicate effectively with the teaching team and report any concerns or incidents
Ensure a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
Provide extra attention to children who may have experienced trauma or instability
Attend staff training and contribute to a supportive, team-centered work culture
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred
Experience working with children in a daycare, school, or volunteer setting
Warm, patient, and calm presence with strong interpersonal skills
CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
Ability to work collaboratively with a team and follow direction from the Lead Teacher
Willingness to receive training in trauma-informed care and inclusive practices
Must pass a fingerprint clearance and background check
Flexibility to adapt to different classroom needs and age groups
